HAYTER 48 Auto Drive SELF PROPELLED STEEL CYLINDER LAWNMOWER 19 (480mm) Cut, 3.5hp Briggs Stratton Engine This Hayter 48 Lawnmower is a one owner machine. It is in remarkable original condition, except for the exhaust muffler, (see photos).It hasn t been used for some years since we moved and has been in a warehouse store since then, except to try it out last week. With fresh petrol and a new spark plug it started after 3 pulls on the starter cord. Hayter described these 19 cut machines as their domestic mower for larger lawns. It cost over £800 when new . The Briggs Stratton 3.5hp engine is very powerful and it starts easily first or second pull using the pull-start handle. It has a heavy steel roller to the rear to give that professional stripe effect.The engine/ground speed, choke and stop are controlled by levers on the handles. The grass bag can be emptied with the engine on tick-over, no need to continuously stop and start the engine. The cutting height is easily adjusted using a single lever on the deck.The wide aperture at the back of the deck aids wet grass pick-up, unlike cheaper mowers.The body/deck of these mowers are Cast Aluminium and do not rust.All the paintwork on the deck is original. There are NO flaky paint areas, (even under the deck)The strong 60 Litre Plastic Grass Collector has no damage. No cracks or holes. I ve had a new spark plug fitted, air filter cleaned, the oil changed and the blade sharpened for the new user as it s been stored for some time, (although it probably didn t need it).This is a SELF PROPELLED mower, You can let it drive itself and stroll behind, or push it if you want to keep fit....
