HAYTER 48 SELF PROPELLED STEEL CYLINDER LAWNMOWER 19 (480mm) Cut, 5hp Briggs Stratton Quantum Engine This Hayter 48 Lawnmower is a one owner machine. It is in very good original condition (see photos). It hasn t been used for some years since we moved and has been in a store since then, except to try it out last week. With the carburettor purged, fresh petrol and a new spark plug it started after 3 pulls on the starter cord. Hayter described these 19 cut machines as their domestic mower for larger lawns. It cost over £900 when new. They are known as the Rolls Royce of mowers and much sought after by professional gardeners. The Briggs Stratton Quantum 5hp engine is very powerful and it starts easily first or second pull using the pull-start handle. It has a heavy steel roller to the rear to give that professional striped effect.The engine and ground speed, are controlled by levers on the handles The cutting height is easily adjusted using a knob on the deck.The wide aperture at the back of the deck allows wet grass pick-up, unlike cheaper mowers.The body/deck of these mowers are Cast Aluminium and do not rust.All the paintwork on the deck is in good condition. There are NO flaky paint areas. The strong Fabric and Plastic 60 litre Grass Collector has no damage. No cracks or holes. I ve had the carburettor flushed. a new spark plug fitted, air filter cleaned, the oil changed and the blade sharpened for the new user as it s been stored for some time.This is a SELF PROPELLED mower, You can let it drive itself and stroll behind, or push it if you want to keep fit....
